The History Behind
Candles For A Cure
Creating Candles For A Cure was a necessary
step for me. I am heavily involved in
fundraising for the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life,
a 24hour fundraising & awareness event that takes place annually all over
the country.
Having lost my mother to cancer in 2003, my sister and I decided
that the Relay for Life was a great opportunity to honor her memory and
hopefully help prevent other families from suffering the same loss that we
experienced. Our mom lived her life
for others and was a leader in her community.
She was not only a loving and caring mother, she was president of our
town’s fundraising committee, raising money to benefit our local schools
& providing scholarships to high school graduates. Her dedication and
commitment to service created a network and legacy of giving and support
around the community. Even while
fighting for her life during her second bout with cancer, she always had a
smile on her face and did what she could to ensure that her disease did not
affect others. I know that I will be
hard pressed to live up to the legacy she left behind, but starting this
company is just one more way to honor her and the life of service she lived.
 
 
Candles For A Cure is dedicated to the memory of my
mother, Kathy Flath,
therefore, 5% of all annual profits
will be donated to
the American Cancer Society in her name.
About Me
Kristina Ewing
I have been married to my husband, Dennis, since September
2003. He has been very supportive of
this opportunity and I know will be very helpful in making Candles
For A Cure a successful business. I do work full time as an Assistant
Controller for a large construction company.
I really enjoy what I do but am also excited about my venture into the
world of candles. Having participated
in many fundraisers through other companies, I am looking forward to managing
the process from start to finish while producing greater contributions for my
charity.
